Man Rejects Godly Self-government. Genesis 3 Statement of theme: And He said, "Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?" What to do: 1) First pray for God's revelation of this week's Bible passage. 2) Read: Genesis 3:1-24. Review "The Garden Command" from lesson 2. 3) Fill out the Key Sheet for Events, extracting valuable information from the text and writing under the proper headings what you find. or click below to print out a blank key sheet. 4) Read Genesis 3:1-24 again, analyzing the passage, and fill out the Key Events sheet with your findings. 5) Read the pertinent portions of "Summary, Creation - Babel". Does it give further understanding for your key sheets? 6) Expand your study. Suggestions: Analyze additional keys. Key individuals. The serpent. Key Documents: "The curse" Gen. 3:14-24. Key Words. Use dictionary, commentary, Strong's concordance. 7) Write down significant things you learned this week, about God, about man, about yourself. How did Eve deceive herself? James 1:14. Analyze the consequences of sin. The curse. The stupidity of sin. Why is God in no way responsible for the sin in the world? 8) Application: Ask yourself, "How can I apply this in my life?" and, "What does this mean to my relationship with God?" Is it reason for praise? Repentance? Commitment? Prayer for others? Prayer for help? Spend time in prayer to the Lord as your heart directs you. Application is perhaps the most important part of Bible study. 9) Build your Bible notebook. As before, put all of your study/research into your Bible notebook. Make sure it is neat, legible, correct, labeled, dated, and in order. Remember that this notebook is your personal Bible notebook and its purpose is to create something of value, not just to store your papers. You are also building personal character of diligence, organization, self-education, care, and self-government, not just learning information and details about the Bible. |
